Spin A Number

We learned a new game in Math last week, Spin A Number.  Students spin and move that many spaces on the gameboard.  The first one to the end is the winner.  Kids had a great time and can't wait to play again.  I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Math Lessons Can Be Fun!

One of our Math lessons was to see if the kids could follow directions.  What better way to do that than to do an obstacle course!  The kids had an absolute blast and were even trying to make up their own at recess.

Center Pictures!

We recently learned Math Centers and Daily 5 (dailies) and here are some of the kiddos doing a great job with them! :)

Creation:  Making Rip-and-Glue Apples
Working on fine motor skills

Word Work:  Stamping the Uppercase and Lowercase Alphabet in order

Writing:  Finding letters, coloring and also practice writing the letters

Writing:  Rainbow writing her name
Trace names 5x with crayons

Writing:  Rainbow writing his name

Math Center:  Ten Frame Game
Student shows a number and the other has to place that many counters on the ten frame board

Math Center:  Patterns-practicing 2 part (AB), 3 part (ABC), and 4 part (ABCD) patterns

Bus Safety with Trooper Cutts

This morning we learned how to be safe on a bus and around a bus.  The students were very excited and were very good for Trooper Cutts, Leroy, and Steve.  Leroy even let us ride on his bus!  I hope you enjoy the pictures! :)

August Newsletter/September Snack Calendar

What We've Been Working On:
· Welcome!  I am very excited about the school year.  The kids are a great bunch and it’s only the first week and a half!  They have learned a lot of the expectations of the classroom and around the school.
· Language Arts/Reading:  We have been working on counting syllables and previewed the alphabet.
· Math:  In Math, we have worked on counting and    matching (your foot is the same size as ____.)
· I will be sending home a newsletter at the end of each month.  It will contain information that we have been working on so you know what we’ve been up to.  It will also include the snack calendar for the next month on the back.
· Book Orders are due Friday, September 7th.  If you order online, here is the information you will need:

· Please don’t be frustrated if your student has come home with a “yellow” day.  This is the beginning of the year and most are learning the school rules for the first time.  They are working hard at following them and will get better as the year progresses.
