Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Monday we learned a lot about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  In the morning, our buddy class (3L--Mrs. Lureman's class) came in to create an art project.  We talked about what Dr. King did for people and how he was a hero.  Students also had first hand experience with how it feels to be treated unfairly.  For the majority of the day, I only gave the girls in the class a treat.  One of the boys caught on and asked, "Why are you giving only the girls a treat?"  We had a discussion about it and how it made us feel. Later, we wrote about what we would want to change about the world. The lessons went very well! The kids were very engaged and had a lot to say during the discussions.

Holiday Fun

This week has been filled with holiday cheer! We had 3rd grade caroling in our classroom.  Mrs. Francisco brought her guitar in for us to sing.  All of the kids had the chance to play the bells and even a few had a chance to play Mrs. Francisco's guitar! It has been a great but tiring week and we are all looking forward to Winter Break.  I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy holiday season!  See you in 2014!
