If You Give A Mouse A Cookie Field Trip!

We had our first field trip this week to see If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and Other Stories.  The kids were very responsible, safe, and respectful on the bus, during the performance, and our "picnic lunch."  Mr. McDermott joined our class for the day because he thought we would have a lot of fun--and we did!  I think he made some friends in our class :).

Funny note:  We drove past Jack Trice Stadium on our way to the performance and the kids were very excited to see how big and "cool" it was.  Then one of the students said, "Wait, Mrs. McLennan! But you like the Hawkeyes!"  This made me laugh and thought you might enjoy it as well!

Having fun before th performance starts!

Sitting so nicely for the performance!

Can't wait to get to the play!

When is it going to start?

Mrs. McLennan--why are you taking a picture of me? :)
So I can show everyone how much fun we're having!

Are we there yet?

I can't tell which one is more excited.

Mr. X-ray Brought A Visitor!

This week we learned about the letter x and what sound it makes.  Mr. X-ray came to our room to help us and he brought a visitor--Mrs. Holden (Mrs. McLennan's Mom), who is an x-ray technician.  She brought in some x-rays for us to see and even let us try on some of the things that people might need to wear to protect themselves from the radiation when getting an x-ray taken!

Making "x" with our bodies!

Fall Party!

We had such a fun time at school!  First, we put on our costumes and paraded around the school--stopping in each room so everyone could see how AWESOME we looked.  Then, after lunch, we had our Fall Party, where we went around to different stations doing various activities.  We had so much fun!

I'm not sure how the kiddos felt Wednesday night, but I can tell you I was in bed by 9:00!  I hope you enjoy the pictures!
Woo hoo! We are READY to parade around the school!

Newsletter & Snack Calendar

Our class has reached 10 Gold Pride Awards which means we get to celebrate in a special way! J  We voted and decided we would like to bring a stuffed animal to school.  Please make sure the stuffed animal is one that is small enough to be at your child’s desk (one that can fit in a brown paper lunch bag).  We will be celebrating on Monday, October 29th!

Book Orders are due Monday, November 19th.  If you would like to order online here is the information you’ll need:
Class Activation Code: GT8GF
Please do not buy Froggy Gets Dressed because I will be purchasing this book for every child as a gift for the holidays.

Super "Designers" and Take 2: Fall Fun

During Math today, students had the opportunity to build different "designs" with pattern blocks (trapezoids, hexagons, squares, rhombi, triangles).  They were pretty proud of them and wanted to show off their building skills :).

A turtle!

I can't remember what he told me this was! Sorry!

Later, we had the chance to re-take our class picture outside.  It was another beautiful Fall day and I was upset they didn't turn out yesterday.  So I took this opportunity to re-capture the fun that we had yesterday in the leaves.

Finding Patterns

During Math, our job was the be detectives and find patterns around the room and then out in the hallway.  We needed our detective goggles on of course!  Kids do have homework tonight to find patterns around the house.  Please sign the homework and send it back to school with your child.
