Students learned the Teen Frame Game today. Partners took turns spinning a number and filling up their teen frame based on what number they spun. The partner whose number was bigger was the winner. The nice thing about this game is that it is quick and allows for repetition of the skills.

Train Game
We learned a new game in math today: Train Game. Students have ten blocks and one die. They take turns rolling and adding "cars" to their "trains." The first one to connect all ten "cars" to make their "train" is the winner! The kids were very loud and excited about this game! :) If you'd like to try this at home, just grab any toys and die and make it your own. The kids will appreciate teaching it to you!

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie Field Trip!
We had our first field trip this week to see If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and Other Stories. The kids were very responsible, safe, and respectful on the bus, during the performance, and our "picnic lunch." Mr. McDermott joined our class for the day because he thought we would have a lot of fun--and we did! I think he made some friends in our class :).
Funny note: We drove past Jack Trice Stadium on our way to the performance and the kids were very excited to see how big and "cool" it was. Then one of the students said, "Wait, Mrs. McLennan! But you like the Hawkeyes!" This made me laugh and thought you might enjoy it as well!

Mr. X-ray Brought A Visitor!
This week we learned about the letter x and what sound it makes. Mr. X-ray came to our room to help us and he brought a visitor--Mrs. Holden (Mrs. McLennan's Mom), who is an x-ray technician. She brought in some x-rays for us to see and even let us try on some of the things that people might need to wear to protect themselves from the radiation when getting an x-ray taken!
